New things

Gloves. They're surprisingly frustrating to make. It is also difficult to find cheap patterns for.

So I decided to improvise just for the hell of it.

I elected to make individual finger sleeves from the felt scraps I had lying around.

They look ridiculous because I was using scraps and being somewhat lazy in the design.

Perhaps because there wasn't any.

Painfully slow process but I believe it was finished within a night.

The range of movement wasn't terrible.

Though it clearly could use improvement in places.

Will these be a mockup of sorts? Perhaps. I doubt these will make for the gloves I had in mind. To the fur suit making sites... AWAY!

Cats!

But first...

AWKWARD PLUSHIE MAKING TIME

So to jumpstart this silly project I elected to recreate the adorable mouse plushie she holds in her back paw in another photo of her figurine.

This is the result of cutting off the trunk of an elephant pattern for a 10 in. tall plushie. Baaah... TOO BIG. And awkward...

So I moved the ears and fiddled with the nose/mouth a bit more.

In case you're wondering, it's some fabric remnant of green fleece. I got half a yard for 2.50 because it was Memorial weekend sale madness at Joann's.

I came out with a more mouse looking creature but not before making a ridiculous mouse with what appeared to be a huge nutsack. As it should.

It's SO ADORABLE! But still not the right one.

New project for Fall 2012
....

I started working on making some basic cat ears to sew into the wig.

I came out with 3 different shapes and sizes (the first two are the final pair I settled on)

I played around with making a pattern based off of existing clothes to make some semblance of her ridiculous leotard thing. I gave up on that for the time being. I may elect to use a real leotard and just cover it with some fabric that better matches what I'm looking for.

So in the meantime I looked at her gloves.

Traced out my hand but gasp... I almost cut off a good chunk of my wrist... Luckily I drew it out better on some leftover felt.

It's so chunky and fat and I loves it.

I figured to add warmth and fluffy to the gloves I would wrap them in some quilting batting I had from making Akasha and Aisha's hair pieces.

To be continued...
