Seeing Spots

Botched my glove plans but am going on ahead!

Purchased a leotard to potentially use as a base.

A Capezio Women's Camisole Leotard in nude.

It fits nicely though I didn't realize the legs were going to be cut so high. I believe jazz cut.

Also purchased a wig from Epic Cosplay

It barely needs styling, which is a major plus after Aisha Clan Clan.

So far all of my efforts have costed me ~$94 to this point...

Gonna get started on the skull maybe and once some Halloween stores pop up in the area I'll be able to get her chains and maybe some other needed supplies.

Double Time

Lofty goals right?

DC Ame-Comi's Cheetah and the Banshee Queen, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner...

Jokes about WoW disregarding women's rights to actually protective armor aside, Lady Sylvanas didn't quite get the short stick on armor like the Dragon Queen, Lifebinder Alexstrasza..

Regardless, she's a strong woman of a vast determination and power that should not be taken lightly.

I can't wait to start planning it out in full.

A Wonderflex breastplate, shoulder pieces, and basically everything else?

I think I'm going to kill it this summer...

New things

Gloves. They're surprisingly frustrating to make. It is also difficult to find cheap patterns for.

So I decided to improvise just for the hell of it.

I elected to make individual finger sleeves from the felt scraps I had lying around.

They look ridiculous because I was using scraps and being somewhat lazy in the design.

Perhaps because there wasn't any.

Painfully slow process but I believe it was finished within a night.

The range of movement wasn't terrible.

Though it clearly could use improvement in places.

Will these be a mockup of sorts? Perhaps. I doubt these will make for the gloves I had in mind. To the fur suit making sites... AWAY!

Cats!

But first...

AWKWARD PLUSHIE MAKING TIME

So to jumpstart this silly project I elected to recreate the adorable mouse plushie she holds in her back paw in another photo of her figurine.

This is the result of cutting off the trunk of an elephant pattern for a 10 in. tall plushie. Baaah... TOO BIG. And awkward...

So I moved the ears and fiddled with the nose/mouth a bit more.

In case you're wondering, it's some fabric remnant of green fleece. I got half a yard for 2.50 because it was Memorial weekend sale madness at Joann's.

I came out with a more mouse looking creature but not before making a ridiculous mouse with what appeared to be a huge nutsack. As it should.

It's SO ADORABLE! But still not the right one.

The Fastest

Cheetah... DC Ame Comi rendition...

New project for Fall 2012
....

I started working on making some basic cat ears to sew into the wig.

I came out with 3 different shapes and sizes (the first two are the final pair I settled on)

I played around with making a pattern based off of existing clothes to make some semblance of her ridiculous leotard thing. I gave up on that for the time being. I may elect to use a real leotard and just cover it with some fabric that better matches what I'm looking for.

So in the meantime I looked at her gloves.

Traced out my hand but gasp... I almost cut off a good chunk of my wrist... Luckily I drew it out better on some leftover felt.

It's so chunky and fat and I loves it.

I figured to add warmth and fluffy to the gloves I would wrap them in some quilting batting I had from making Akasha and Aisha's hair pieces.

To be continued...

The Dark Queen Rises

Test run the night before the con.

The Queen has risen. Those who must be kept are on the prowl...

But at least the Queen has a smile on.

Fuzzy pictures I'm aware. I'm sorry I couldn't/didn't schedule for a photo shoot. I wanted to work out some kinks before I have an accident in the costume...

Despite not being able to comfortably wear the Queen of all vampires all day Friday at Anime Boston '12, I was happy to have finished it. I also managed to win a staff pick ribbon. :D

New plans include Mimiru from .hack//sign, Erza Scarlet's Flight Armor from the Oracion Seis arc of Fairy Tail, Ame Comi Cheetah from DC Universe, and much more...

Belt and Hair Update

So as I mentioned before I had some more work to be done on the belt.

I really just needed to add in the extra pearl veneers in between the other foam panels.

This was my attempt to create rolled up, sewn, and spray painted batting tubes for the crazy beehive cone thing on the top of Akasha's head. It may very well have been holding the crown to her head.

Spray paint had postponed any further work as the paint needed quite a bit of time to dry. Even after the suggested 24 hours it wasn't ready to be worked with... D:

Here you can see my horrid closet, Akasha's hair tubes, and Aisha's updated hair tubes.

I was actually trying to update a bit of Aisha when I had the downtime to do so.

The tubes were caulked in varying places, probably about a finger's length apart from one another. Then half inch chunks of kanekalon fiber was gently smudged into the caulk. I had managed to use a little less than a whole tube of caulk making these.

Slowly Catching

After the necklace came ... MORE NECKLACE.

More generic Joanns beads.

Though those beads were used for another loop that would be a spacer for these round discs that were apparently there. Enjoying life I suspect... Cheeky bastards.

My apologies for the bad rotate. My mac was being hateful as was the Internet. That's what I consider to be the signature piece to the lovely Akasha. Props to the costume designers for providing a potential cover in the off chance of escaping breasts. Though they'd likely work terribly in that regard...
